Opioid Crisis Getting Worse

More than 9,100 people have died of drug overdoses in Tennessee between 2013 and 2018, according to state death data. More than 70% of those deaths were at least partially caused by opioids, including prescription painkillers, heroin or fentanyl.

Here’s how it’s been looking in Tennessee…

Opioids are drugs that act on the nervous system to relieve pain. Continued use and abuse can lead to physical dependence and withdrawal symptoms. They come in tablets, capsules or liquid. There are lots of names for these drugs.

We need to educate our youth before they show up on this chart!
